Gain understanding/acceptance of anger as "normal" and to develop skills to express it in safe and productive ways. Beginnings: Trauma Recovery
This group focuses on some of the initial aspects of the work of building safety —education about the effects of stress and traumatic stress on bodies and mind; learning ways of calming; understanding the importance of self care and practicing self care. Boundaries
Learn how to foster positive, healthy relationships. Develop and enhance interpersonal skills.

Budgeting & Financial Management
Increase your knowledge and skills of personal budgeting and financial management.

You will visit various community work opportunities to help in deciding the field of work to enter into. You will also listen to guest speakers who have overcome personal barriers to be successful in the work place. Co-Dependence I
Introduction to co-dependence and its maladaptive behaviors. Learn to identify and establish healthy boundaries in relations with others. (0)(WSM)(CST)
Co-Dependence II
This group offers an in-depth exploration of co-dependence, including the origin and development of codependency in an alcohol/drug family system, and a presentation of the Family Disease Concept. (C)(WSM)(CST)
Cognitive Therapy Techniques
Participants will learn to apply the A-B-C model of Cognitive Therapy for symptom reduction and development of more realistic automatic thoughts. (C)(WSM)
Community Exploration
If you've ever wondered what in the world is around you, this is the group for you. We will start with a discussion about community resources, such as stores, libraries, restaurants, theatres and the like, then will go out and see where they are located, how to get there, and what they have to offer. Cooking I
Kitchen Safety
Group members will learn the importance of hygiene, fire, and food safety with regards to preparing meals for an individual and/or small family. (C)(CR)(BLST)
Cooking II
Hands-on practice with budgeting, shopping for and preparing healthy and nutritious meals. Learn to develop food budget. Plan and practice shopping for healthy foods. Practice cooking nutritious and balanced meals. (c)(eR)(Rt ST)
Coping Skills for Anxiety
Participants will learn to identify symptoms of anxiety and understand the "fight or flight" response. You will learn useful practices and techniques for recovering from anxiety. (0)(WSM)(CST)
Coping with Mixed Anxiety and Depression
To learn to effectively cope with the symptoms of both anxiety and depression through the identification and understanding of inner conflicts which create unhealthy emotions and behavior. Participants will learn: 1) To understand the 'Dialectics' (inner conflict) of anxiety and depression. 2) Obtaining a different perspective on emotions. 3) Create meaning in life. 4) Mindfulness 5) Regulating Emotions 6) Learning to tolerate distress. Coping with Trauma through the Creative Arts
therapies offer concrete tools for developing coping skills and learning how to deal with a wide variety of emotions. These include themes of: anger, forgiveness, safety, avoidance, grief, loss, and others. This group will use the tools of art, writing and music to give participants specific coping skills so they can learn how to care for themselves in non-destructive and healthy ways. Participants will learn: 1.How to identify and communicate non-verbally about trauma recovery

Daily Living Skills
Learn skills that will help you improve self-care, level of independence, self-esteem, and socialization. Learn to identify goals/needs re: daily living skills including: personal hygiene, care of possessions and environment, food prep, budget, transportation, leisure and employment. Developing Confidence in Public Presentation through Performance
T
his group is designed for people who want to improve their skills at interfacing with the public, whether at a job, a volunteer opportunity, and/or in performance. Group members will have an opportunity to practice skills in performance of Public speaking and/or Performance in: music, poetry and/or prose reading. Musical instruments such as guitars are welcome. Don't Sweat The Small Stuff

Men's Group
Men with dual disorders need a safe gender-specific place to talk about feelings and experiences, which may be difficult to express in a mixed group. This group will be a place to reflect and express ideas, feelings, problems, and modify dysfunctional behaviors through discussion, roleplaying and support. (C)(DR)(1R)(ITDR)
DR Relapse Prevention
Participants will learn how to achieve/maintain abstinence from drugs/alcohol and maintain psych stability including: 1. Identifying internal and external triggers. 2. This group will help individuals address symptoms of dual disorder, manage stress and learn ways to cope with 2 diseases. DR Woman's Group
This group for women with dual disorders provides a safe gender-specific place to talk about feelings and experiences. Participants will be able to reflect/express feelings and modify dysfunctional behavior through discussion, role-playing and support. (0)(DR)(1R)(ITDR)
DR WRAP
Monitor signs and symptoms of dual disorder and reduce/ modify/ eliminate symptoms. Participants will develop and learn to use the WRAP in daily activities, increase self-awareness, understanding and coping skills. (Open, then closes after completion of WRAP)(WSM)
DR-Coping with feelings through the use of the Creative Arts
Use of arts in helping to develop healthy ways of coping with feelings as an alternative to the abuse of drugs and alcohol as numbing mechanisms, including: the use of writing, art and music as coping skills for expressing feelings and for self-soothing. (C)(DR)(IR)
DR-Developing Healthy Roles through Role play:
This group is designed to provide individuals recovering from substance abuse disorders and mental health issues with the tools to develop and maintain healthy role development in relationships with family, friends, and co-workers. Practice skills to reduce anxiety re: social interaction, improve communication skills re-create positive roles such as: employee, parent, partner, husband/wife. (C)(DR)(IR)
Dual Recovery Basic Education
Group
Recipients will be exposed to 10 specific foundational topics to facilitate movement to abstinence from drugs/alcohol to a lifestyle of health and recovery. It is suggested that all DR participants attend this group as an educational foundation to the dual recovery program. (C)(DR)(WSM)
Dual Recovery Ongoing Education
This group is designed to provide ongoing education and support for symptoms of mental health and addictive disorders. You will learn about both mental health diagnoses and addictive disease, and learn coping skills for integrated recovery. This includes identifying leisure and stress management skills, and applying recovery principles to on-going problems and issues. (0) (DR) (CRS)
Dual Recovery Group
After abstinence and psych stability, recipients will address internal core issues, which may have been underlying precipitants of psych emergency and relapse of chemical use. Participants will learn how to identify thoughts, feelings and attitudes that impede health, recovery and increase the risk of relapse, ID internal changes needed to support ongoing long-term sobriety, ID methods to facilitate needed changes, develop support within group. Emotion Regulation
Participants will learn to observe, recognize, and manage emotions, including: 1) Identifying physical characteristics of the emotion 2) Identifying individual display of emotion 3) Identifying verbal signals that assist an individual with recognizing the emotion 4) Defining situations that bring about the emotions 5) Creating a plan to manage the emotion when it occurs. Family Resources in the Community
This group will provide information about local resources that offer family services. Participants will: 1) Learn about Northeast Parent and Child Society 2) Learn about CPS 3) Other services in the area. (CRS)(C LE)
Good Grief
Participants will learn about various types of loss including: healthy grieving; unresolved grief; and disenfranchised grief. The goal of the group is to help participants improve their quality of life and reduce depression associated with loss and grief. (C)(WSM)(CST)
Healthy Dual Recovery
For individuals diagnosed with a mental health diagnosis and a substance addiction diagnosis: Individuals will learn of healthy ways to maintain their physical, emotional and psychological health, various strategies to decrease problems related to unhealthy lifestyle choices, learning about the benefits of self care, and replacing unhealthy coping patterns with healthy ones. Healthy Eating
Participants will learn about nutrition in order to make healthier choices regarding their food/drink consumption. This group will include information about: the nutritional content of various food groups as well as the new version of the food pyramid. Group members will share positive steps taken toward healthy food choices and support each other. (0)(WSM)
Improving Body Image and Self-Esteem for Women in Trauma Recovery
This group emphasizes body and self- acceptance, and the uncoupling of self-worth from weight. Participants will learn to: 1) identify the strengths and challenges of being female, 2) improve self-care of body, 3) improve body image and self-esteem and 4) develop non-judgmental, compassion towards their bodies. Improving Coping,Social Skills and Creative Problem Solving through Dance/Movement
Clients who have been in the mental health system for
many years may find it challenging to meet new people, be comfortable in new
settings and learn to think creatively when new situations arise. Dance/movement
therapy is a tool that helps people to develop social skills and to utilize
creativity in problem solving. Specific movement and problem solving exercises
will be provided to give participants concrete coping skills for improving mood,
as well as healthy opportunities for self-expression. (0)(WSM)(CST)
Improving Self Confidence
Participants will learn the skills necessary to improve self confidence and increase desire to make and sustain life change. The group will teach participants 1) To utilize the A-B-C theory of cognitive therapy to identify distorted thoughts of self image. 2) Begin to identify more realistic view of self, including strengths which lead to the establishment of health life goals. Independent Living Skills
This group will focus on the various types of skills needed for independent living in a safe environment. Participants will learn to identify: 1. "Soft" skills such as: decision-making, relationships, anger management, managing symptoms; 2. "Hard" skills, such as budgeting, housing, cooking, seeking employment, and transportation and 3. "Invisible" skills such as identifying trauma and identity issues. Goals include learning and/or improving Independent Living Skills including utilizing community resources. (C) (BLST)
Intensive Relapse Prevention Skills
Participants will learn skills to address immediate risks such as relapse, hospitalization, loss of housing or criminal justice involvement.1) You will be able to manage acute or existing symptoms to avoid relapse, hospitalization, loss of housing or criminal justice involvement. 2) You will develop a plan following a hospitalization, rehabilitation admission, or incarceration to avoid future admissions. Interview Skills & Resumes
To provide participants with the skills to interview successfully and create a professional quality resume. This group provides a non-judgmental atmosphere not found in some community supports for clients with persistent mental illness to discuss issues related to dual disorder. 1) Explore benefits of abstinence. 2) Develop support within group 3) Verbalize difficulties resulting from CD and MH issues. 4) Increase tolerance, feedback and learning. Intro To Dual Recovery II
Individuals with severe and persistent mental illness may need an opportunity to explore the benefits of abstinence and involvement in psychiatric treatment. Participants will increase awareness of the Co-occurring Disorders; identify the negative consequences of chemical use; and identify the benefits of sober lifestyles, including abstinence and following a healthy plan for psychiatric care. Participants will learn to identify personal barriers to employment and the resources and opportunities that are available through the vocational specialist and employment specialists. (0)(CRS)
Intro to Self Help
Participants will learn about in self-help resources available in the community and how to benefit from participating in them. Individuals will be able to share personal experiences with others with common experiences 2) Learn about varieties of self help programs. 3) Receive and introduction to 12 step concepts. Intro to 12-steps
This group provides more in depth exploration of 12 steps from a broader perspective. Participants can learn how to apply these spiritual principles to a wide range of problems beyond addictions. (0)(CRS)(IERSH)
The Job Hunt
Group
participants will learn about and practice utilizing various resources, individuals, and media available to find successful employment. (0)(CRS)(BLST)
Keeping My New Job
Participants will get offsite job support to increase job retention and discuss concerns and barricades and learn problem-solving skills involving work related issues. (O)(Only for individuals who are currently employed) (SSDS) or (ORS)
Less Stress
Participants will learn to understanding different types of stress, its impact on mental/physical health, strategies to reduce exposure to stress. (0)(CST)
Life Goals
Participants will learn to identify your goals and desires. You will identify personal strengths and supports as well as challenges and barriers to achievement. You will learn to identify objectives and services that will help you to achieve your goals. (0)(IRP)
Maintaining Mood Stability
Participants will learn the skills necessary to control your mood through the medical path, lifestyle path and life issues path to healing. Group objectives include: 1) To strengthen the development of a personal WRAP plan; advocating for self, identifying a support system. 2) Communicating with your healthcare provider. 3) Developing a healthy lifestyle that enhances Wellness; use of light, exercise, diet, sleep, humor, soothing the senses 4) Working through life issues; minimizing influences from the past, role of addiction, use of peer counseling, focusing, journaling, self esteem, relapse prevention. Managing Emotions
Participants will learn to be able to manage their emotions, and the difference between emotions and behaviors. Participants will also learn to identify emotions, and develop an emotional vocabulary. The goal of this group is to be able to reduce emotional vulnerability, by learning both verbal and non-verbal communication and affect regulation through toleration and modulation. (0)(WSM)
Men's Health in Recovery
Participants will learn to identify barriers to living a healthy lifestyle in recovery.
Learn to develop skills specific to address your needs as a man in the areas of nutrition, sleep, comprehensive health, stress management and building positive relationships. (C)(DR)(CRS)(SSDS)
Move Into Health
Participants will learn the positive benefits of physical activity and light exercise on mental health. Individuals who cannot afford to pay for exercise classes in the community will be provided an opportunity to engage in light exercise, stretching and dancing to improve their mood and coping skills. Nutrition Education
Participants will learn the importance of a nutritionally balanced diet and develop a diet that is appropriate on an individual basis. 1) Learn what type of vitamins and minerals are needed for your body to work properly; 2) Basic information about your body and the importance of the digestive tract; 3) Identify any dietary concerns specific to the individual; 4) Learn to identify the proper portion sizes (including measurement) and meal planning; 5) Develop basic grocery lists for maintaining healthy diets; 6) Implement nutritional' planning into lifestyle. Positive Social Skills
This group is designed to provide individuals with obstacles associated with social and verbal skills deficit with opportunity to enhance positive social skills. Participants will practice positive interaction, focus and concentration in a relaxed environment while engaging in directed art activities. (C)(WSM)(CST)
Problem Solving Skills
Participants will learn to develop effective solutions to routine life events. Individuals will learn the process of problem solving (egg. brain-storming, identifying the "true" problem, boundaries), barriers to solutions and means of implementing and evaluating action plans. (C)(WSM)(CST)
Public Speaking & Communication
Participants will learn to utilize skills to improve public speaking, social interactions, and communication in the work environment. Skills include identifying positive and negative body language as well as speaking patterns and behaviors. Learn to apply positive communication techniques to social and work environments. Reading is FUNdamental
This group is for individuals who identify themselves as unable to read or desiring an improved level of reading capability. The goal is to help individuals identify reading readiness, possible barriers to reading and reading comprehension, and to assist group members in achieving literacy goals. (C)(CRS)(WSM)
Recovering from Schizophrenia
Participants will learn to identify symptoms of schizophrenia. You will learn useful practices and techniques for recovery. Participants will be able to 1.identify at least 3 personal symptoms of schizophrenia 2) you will be able to identify and use at least 3 practices that contribute to your recovery 3) you will be able to identify 3 personal signs of relapse and develop a plan to address them if they occur. Seeking Safety
This group is based upon an integrated and evidence-based model of treatment developed by Lisa Navajatis called Seeking Safety that is designed to address both PTSD and Substance Abuse. The Seeking Safety group focuses on the first stage of trauma recovery — Safety- and offers opportunities for group members to discover connections between the two disorders in their lives as well as why they can co-occur, explore their interrelationship in the present, increase self-compassion by viewing substance abuse as a attempt to cope with the pain of trauma, and learn safe coping skills that apply to both. This group does not include talking about the traumatic experiences members have had. That work is best done in individual therapy sessions. (Closed after first two sessions) (IR, TR, DR)
Self-Directed Recovery
Participants will learn about the recovery process, explore life goals, developing a support system, triggers to relapse and problem solving strategies. (C)(WSM)
Self Esteem
Participants will learn how develop healthy self-esteem; to enabling them to enjoy positive relationships and success in their chosen roles. Group Objectives: To identify sources of low self-esteem; changing the way of thinking and feeling; reality testing, role-playing. (0)(CRS)
Spiritual Practices in Recovery
Participants will learn useful practices from spiritual traditions that contribute to improvement in mood, stress, and improvement in relationships. Group Objectives: 1) You will be able to identify at least 3 spiritual practices (for example, gratitude, forgiveness, mindfulness) that contribute to your recovery. (0) (WSM)(CRS)
Stress Management
Participants will learn to identify signs of stress and develop skills to help them to reduce their stress/anxiety levels. Members will be exposed to and practice a variety of stress reduction techniques including mindfulness, meditation, guided imagery, breathing exercises and related reading. (0)(WSM)
Support for Goals-DR
Participants will identify meaningful goals to resume healthy functioning for dual recovery as well as receiving support/ education for goal achievement. This group will help you: 1) Clarify the roles you would like to resume in the community. 2) Identify barriers to goals. 3) Provide support for goal attainment. (0)(IRGA)
Take Charge of Your Health:
T
his group is designed to help group members to become active participants in their medical follow up and bridge the gap between follow up of mental and physical health. Participants will: 1) learn about basic human anatomy/physiology 2) learn about major medical conditions such as diabetes, HTN, high cholesterol, arthritis. 3) Learn to read basic test results. 4) Will make an appointment with a PCP. The Road to Healing through Grief
Participants will learn to understand the impact of grief and loss on life goal attainment and be able to process through emotion on the path to healing. Participants will have the opportunity 1) To understand our grief and life losses. 2) Work through the 10 steps of healing; remembering the past, redefining the present and recreating our future. Trauma Recovery — Coping Skills 1
Survivors of trauma often have difficulty coping in their lives and acknowledging the importance of their protective skills while recognizing that those same skills may interfere with their functioning. This group continues the work of "safety" with a focus on developing new skills that will assist them in coping with the re-experiencing symptoms of PTSD. (Closed after two weeks) (IR)(IRGA)
Trauma Recovery — Coping Skills 2
This group continues the safety work of trauma recovery with a focus on developing specific skills for coping with symptoms of intrusive memories, nightmares, flashbacks and intense feelings typically related. (Closed after 2 weeks) (IR)(IRGA)
Trauma Recovery and Parenting
Parents in the Trauma recovery track will have the opportunity to enhance their positive, empathic, good-enough parenting potential. Participants will be given an opportunity to: 1) Identify in your role as a parent and develop an understanding of how your autobiography, early family life and traumatic experiences are related to and reflected in your current parenting practices 2) Develop the ability to be self-reflective and empathic towards your children. 3) Learn about child developmental stages. 4) Enhance secure attachments with your children. 5) Practice emotional-regulation skills with yourself and with your children. 6) Explore how self-care & self-nurturing are essential to becoming a balanced parent. 7) Establish healthy parenting support systems. 8) Identify positive parenting strategies when dealing with the multiple challenges of being a parent. 9) Increase your sense of competence as a parent. Trauma Recovery through Movement
Learn healthy coping skills for caring for our bodies and ourselves through dance and movement. Included in group will be exercises designed to: improve self-esteem and mood, reduce anxiety, increase physical strength, use healthy activity as a distraction technique when intrusive memories impair functioning, learn the use of safe boundaries by developing awareness of internal signals, body boundaries, and safe personal space, improve the ability to interact and communicate with people in a healthy manner, learn to identify emotion and body signals and to foster a sense of belonging. Volunteer 101
This group will inform and educate individuals who are interested in volunteering in the community. Participants will also have an opportunity to volunteer with a group in order to gain some experience and help overcome barriers to involvement in volunteer activities. You will learn what it means to volunteer in the community, the importance of volunteering in respect to employment, and how to find volunteer opportunities in the community. (0)(CRS)(CLE)
Welcome to PROS
You will learn about the PROS program and the model of recovery. You will be encouraged to take responsibility for your recovery through identifying your life goals and plans. Welcome to the Workforce
Participants will learn about the importance of work, the different types of pay (salary vs. hourly), part time vs. full time, and acceptable work habits. Learn to identify the needs and wants that cost money. Acknowledge the need for a paycheck in everyday life. Learn the foundational information needed to join or rejoin the workforce. (0)(CRS) (BLST)
Wellness Self Management
This group is designed to help participants develop a sense of health and wellness. Participants will learn about recovery and to make the best use of mental and physical wellness services. The group will also teach stress management skills and help participants develop a sense of health and wellness. (C)(CRS)(WSM)
Women's Trauma Recovery Group
This group provides support, education and skills development for women who are dealing with the effect of ongoing PTSD. Often people who have experienced this type of trauma need ongoing support as they cope with the symptoms of PTSD and to make change in these other areas of your lives.
The group is designed to help members learn about the effects of trauma on one's sense of self, one's relationships with others, one's ability to regulate emotions, and one's sense of meaning. (C)(CCT)

This group will help participants complete all the course requirements to earn the Certificate of Employability, which can be placed on a resume. You will increase your chances of obtaining employment by earning the Certificate of Eligibility. (0)(CRS)(BLST)
WRAP for Parents
This group is specifically for parents who have been diagnosed with a psychiatric disability with the goal of assisting parents to successfully maintain their very important roles as parents. In the group, they will develop their WRAP with a focus on how it relates to parenting. (C)(CRS)
Wellness Recovery Action Plan
Group members will to establish a plan to address personal safety in the event of a psychiatric emergency and to promote personal recovery utilizing community resources. 1) Learn about psychiatric triggers 2) Create a plan to address the triggers with appropriate coping skills 3) Use the plan to manage psychiatric symptoms. Practice Self Expression. develop motivation and inspiration, and explore life coals. Develop skill in self expression, improve insight and organizational skills, identify strengths, provide empowerment, motivation for change. (O)(WSM)(CST)
